Abstract

A key factor in the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is internalization of extracellular Tau oligomers (ecTauOs) by neuroglial cells. Aberrant hyperphosphorylation of Tau results in their dissociation from microtubules and formation of toxic intracellular Tau oligomers (icTauOs).
