Abstract

The phytochemical investigation of the fruits of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. led to the isolation and identification of seventeen structurally diverse compounds, including one undescribed carbonyl compound (1) and two new glycosides (6 and 10) together with fourteen known compounds. Their structures were assigned by spectroscopic and computational methods combined with acid hydrolysis. Nine compounds (1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 17) displayed inhibitory activities to renal fibrosis in TGF-β1 induced kidney proximal tubular cells, and a dose-effect relationship was observed in compounds 2, 6 and 10.
