Abstract

Extract from the snake (Ptyas mucosa) pituitaries was capable of inhibiting the binding of 125I-labelled bovine growth hormone to female rat liver membranes. The growth hormone-like substance was not adsorbed on Concanavalin A-Sepharose nor DEAE-cellulose, but could be purified by gel filtration on Sephadex G-50.
