Abstract
The effects of some naturally occurring prostaglandins (PGs) (PGE2, PGA1, and PGF1alpha) has been studied in vitro on the hypogastric nerves vas deferens and seminal vesicle preparations of the guinea pig and compared with that of PGE1. It has been shown that, like PGE1, PGE2, PGA1, and PGF1alpha are capable to increase markedly the effects of the sympathetic stimulation and of the sympathetic amines (adrenaline and noradrenaline) on the vas deferens and seminal vesicle of the guinea pig. PGE2, has however 1/10 and PGA1 and PGF1alpha 1/100 the potency of PGE1. It is suggested that, they may have a specific action in guinea pig enhancing the sensitivity of the semen excreting apparatus to nervous stimuli.
