Abstract

Have you ever been asked to be a referee and write a reference for a work colleague? If it is a task you have not done before the prospect can be quite daunting: no one wants to give a bad reference and harm the prospects of a work colleague obtaining another employment post or even a promotion. Perhaps you are a manager or team leader that has experience of writing job references? But are you aware of the legal implications of writing a reference?
