Abstract
Much contemporary anthropology has turned away from exclusive focus on so-called "primitive" tribes in far-away places. The study of urban people has become more prominent, and some researchers have also turned their gaze towards marginalized minorities in their communities. Philippe Bourgois is an example of this.
