The comparison is based on a number of criteria, including the place of kindergartens in the country’s educational system, the form of ownership, and the time spent in the institution. In addition, the author compares the kindergarten and «out-of-school care» «Haidi» (Austria) with the MBDOU kindergarten №8 in Yessentuki «Zoryanochka» (Russia). The study shows that kindergartens in the two countries are similar in many ways, but the main dif-ference, which is a condition for the appearance of others, is that kindergartens are not part of the general educational system in Austria. This study can be used for further study of preschool systems in the two countries, since the issue of comparing preschool education in Russia and Austria requires further study. Статья Abstract. The article is devoted to comparing the activities of preschool institutions in Russia and Austria. The com- parison is based on existing legal documents.
