Abstract
The following study’s objective is to attempt a historical approach towards a literary motif: the contemplation of a sleeping beauty provoking the desire of love. Wherefore the climax of the Ruperta and Croriano episode will provide the starting point, inserted into the Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda (III, 16-17), by Miguel de Cervantes, who will be our guide.
