Abstract

John Drew is a PhD candidate in education studies at Western University. His research is situated at the intersection of curriculum and animal studies, and he is particularly interested in the potential for literature and popular culture to help foster multispecies empathy. He was awarded the 2018 Animals and Us: Research, Policy, and Practice Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Prize. Before returning for doctoral studies, he was a secondary English teacher.
