Abstract
In the Geneva approach to the study of discourse (Geneva School), the research on discourse relations (illocutionary and interactive) and their markers privilege the study of how the speaker, to achieve a monological completeness, establishes these relationships to produce an informative textual segment (intervention). However, these studies do not show the influence of ritual restrictions, concerning the preservation of faces and territories, on the establishment of these relationships. Therefore, this paper presents a proposal for the treatment of interactive relationships that considers the impact of ritual restrictions on the elaboration of the intervention. The procedure is performed in two stages —analysis of generic relationships and analysis of specific relationships— and allows a detailed study of the role of interactive relationships in the management of faces and territories, which was confirmed by analyzing the excerpt of a play.
