Second, drawing upon the work of Alexander Golitzin, I show that the anthropomorphite beliefs of Augustine’s North African contemporaries closely resemble the forms of anthropomorphism found in a diverse range of geographical locales, including Egypt, Syria, and Mesopotamia.
