Abstract

urkholderia pseudomallei, a soil-dwelling bacteria, is the Bsource of the tropical infection melioidosis, which has high morbidity and fatality rates. We can all agree that melioidosis is a dangerous sickness. The sickness is widespread in our area of Indochina, and the infection is challenging to diagnose. Many other infections have the capacity to mimic the disease and manifest it. Climate change, zoonotic risks, and epidemiological shifts are all causing new regions to becomemelioidosis endemic. To understand the true prevalence of B. pseudomallei and to stop its spread and related mortality, the One Health approach, comprising multidisciplinary teamwork, must be adopted. The infection is highly endemic in Southeast Asia. Khon Kaen, a city in northeast Thailand, has been dubbed the “capital of melioidosis” because of the high occurrence of the ailment there even though there have been few studies on the condition. In environments with few resources, source control and source identification are more challenging and are influenced by the facilities provided. Melioidosis abscesses seems to be reasonably sensitive, according to limited data. An efficient procedure is favorable. Aswas already said, melioidosis has a broad clinical spectrum. In certain circumstances, a surgical problem like an abscess presents first. Surgery for particular organ involvement along with antibiotic treatment is necessary for recovery. The authors would want to talk about the recent emergence of melioidosis in Southeast Asia in the context of COVID-19 here (GPS location 6.754848138498459, 100.8492065344826). In fact, the COVID-19 pandemic frequently makes it difficult to control endemic diseases. Since 2020, the COVID-19 has been detected in this region. Melioidosis cases are on the rise in this region in 2022, and the fatality rate is high (71.4%). It is an interesting question how melioidosis and COVID-19 are related. In patients with immunosuppressed conditions, COVID-19 has been shown to activate latent opportunistic infections, including melioidosis.
