Abstract
In 2012, the European Commission presented a draft regulation proposing the establishment of a European Foundation (called Fundatio Europaea). This article concisely retraces the legislative process of the project, which—unfortunately—was not successful in the end. The project is not expected to be revived in the short or medium term. Concrete alternatives to the FE have not yet been considered either.
