Likewise, the occasional excursus on visual material is not always strictly relevant to a text based study, even if it provides more texture. Nevertheless, in the large scale of things, such criticisms are inherently very minor. Given the wealth of information and discussion here, it would be very churlish for any reviewer to ask for less when so much scholarly substance has so generously been supplied.
