Abstract

Abstract Advocacy and multicultural counseling researchers have helped establish competencies for working with today’s diverse client populations. However, advocacy competencies may not fully account for the intersecting identities and unique concerns of LGBTQ+ individuals. Counselors working with LGBTQ+ client populations therefore need specific skills to address client intersectionality. The authors present the Intersectional Advocacy Counseling Framework (IACF) and discuss its application in counseling with LGBTQ+ clients and its use within counselor supervision.
