¿(Des)enmascarando identidades? Una aproximación a la lucha libre mexicana / (Un)masking Identities? An Approximation to Mexican Catch

Abstract

La intención de este trabajo1 es poner de relieve algunos de los procesos de construcción de las identidades en juego en la lucha libre, considerada como una de las manifestaciones más relevantes de la cultura de México. A través de un cotejo con el mundo de la commedia dell’arte italiana, de las reflexiones de Roland Barthes, Carlos Monsiváis y Bolívar Echeverría, dedicamos particular atención al papel de las máscaras.Palabras clave: lucha libre mexicana, identidades, máscara, cuerpo.Abstract:The aim of this work is emphasize some of the processes in the construction of the identities in game in the “lucha libre”, considered as one of the most relevant manifestations of the culture of Mexico. Through a comparison with the world of the Italian commedia dell'arte, of the reflections of Roland Barthes, Carlos Monsiváis and Bolívar Echeverría, we put attention in the role of masks.Keywords: mexican catch, identities, mask, body.
