Abstract

A Educacao para uma Cidadania ativa tem sido amplamente debatida em diversos organismos mundiais, europeus e nacionais. Esta crescente importância vem na linha dos novos desafios que as sociedades democraticas se deparam num mundo que se encontra em constante mudanca. O estudo da Historia e empatia historica sao essenciais para a promocao de uma cidadania ativa e global. Uma aula de Historia que nao recorra a empatia historica esta, de algum modo, a falhar: quer no ensino da historia, quer na preparacao de futuros cidadaos. Between the past and the future: History and the promotion of a healthy Citizenship An Education to a Healthy Citizenship has been widely debated in various organizations either global, European or national. This growing importance meets the new challenges that democratic societies face in a world that is constantly changing. The study of history and historical empathy are essential for the promotion of active and healthy citizenship. A history class that does not resort to empathy history is somehow failing, either in teaching history or preparing future citizens.
