Abstract
Merrifield resin supported ionic liquids/iodide as an efficient and recyclable catalystfor the synthesis of benzimidazoles has been developed. The corresponding products were isolated in good to excellent yields. In addition, the Merrifield resin supported ionic Liquids/iodi iodide ne catalyst can be recovered and recycled by a simple filtration of the reaction solutionand reused for six times without significant decreases in activity.
