Abstract

ABSTRACT The life and scholarship of Dr Emma J. Justes left a lasting legacy in the field of practical theology. Her work embraced issues of personal care and social justice. As a scholar, she advocated for an inclusive theological anthropology that embraced partnership and mutual interdependence. She challenged traditional sex-defined roles in mainline Protestant traditions and taught pastors and theologians to listen to the marginalized voices present in every community. Her life and scholarship will be remembered for her compassionate mode of hospitality and her bold embrace of difference.
