Contemporary Challenges and the Reality of Career Counseling in the “School–University–Labor Market” System

Abstract

This article discusses the basic spiritual and moral values and socio-occupational interests of high school seniors, and the major factors shaping them. It shows that one of the main problems is the students’ inflated assessment of their own intellectual abilities, which leads to errors in the choice of educational institution and profession. It analyzes networking programs for professional and vocational orientation, designed to resolve the acute contradictions in the “school–university–labor market” system in the Urals Federal District.
