Abstract
The journey of the Florentine clerics Bernardo Michelozzi (1455-1519) and Bonsignore Bonsignori (1468-1530) to Jerusalem, via Edessa, Constantinople and the west coast of Anatolia (1497-98), is one of the most celebrated “humanist” pilgrimages in the early Renaissance. Michelozzi’s passionate search for geek books and Bonsignori’s unusual attention for ancient sites and monuments has long since attracted scholars interested in the history of ancient heritage. La «Nuova Rivista Storica» fu fondata nel 1917 da Corrado Barbagallo: era in corso la prima guerra mondiale ed è probabile che quanto avveniva nel nostro paese e in tutta l’Europa sia stato determinante nel condizionarne il programma che fu pensato «un po’ diverso da quello comune alle altre riviste storiche» (Il nostro programma, firmato La Redazione, fasc.1, a. 1 gennaio-marzo 1917). In esso si auspicava infatti di poter «esercitare una speciale azione nell’ambito della nostra cultura storiografica: quella che nel pensiero dei suoi ideatori è parsa la più conforme ai bisogni dell’ora che volge».
