Abstract

The authors developed sustained fluoride release devices for intraoral application. The drug used, sodium fluoride, was associated to a mixture of polimethylmetacrilate and hydroxiethylmetacrilate, acrylic resins that formed the systems. The finished product presented an adequate behavior in terms of fluoride release and period of time in the oral cavity, as it remained in the mouth for a relatively long time (10 days), continuously liberating small quantities of the drug.
