Usabilidad y accesibilidad en las redes sociales

Abstract

With the appearance of Web 2.0, a great number of products and services has arisen. Those people who do not use current technologies will be excluded by this digital revolution. Older adults represent one of these groups in danger of exclusion. In some cases, elders have no interest in these new technologies. However, in other cases technologies are not aware of their strengths and weaknesses, which promote elders’ capability of use. Based on access and interaction barriers endured by older adults, experience with Web use is not nice and pleasant, and ends causing a rejection to Internet use. In this work we analyze those barriers which elders meet in social network Facebook, based on techniques associated to user experience (UX). After analyzing those barriers, we propose usability and accessibility recommendations which allow to minimize the identified barriers and to improve older adults’ user experience.
