Abstract

An experimental transmission between two wireless devices using Radio over Fiber technology is carried out. Data issued from an Xbee module coded on a wireless microwave carrier at 2.44 GHz is transmitted through an optical link of 25.24 km. The optical transmission is based on an external modulation scheme over a dispersive channel. Results allow proposing this Radio over Fiber system as potential candidate to be used in Passive Optical Networks (PON) to distribute data, video and voice among several users.
