Introduction to the Special Issue on Visual Communication and Visual Literacy (Part One)

Abstract

This is one of two special issues, coedited with Joseph Williams, which out of the Louisiana Tech on Visual Communication and Visual Literacy (St. 2020). A group of international researchers met to exchange ideas about visual communication, visual literacy, and visual rhetoric, in the 21st century. We focused on conversation and exchange to forge new connections with researchers with a genuine interest in bridging their research, teaching, and as applicable, professional practice. The same general spirit — conversation and exchange — informs each of the papers we collected for these two special issues.
