Abstract
During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the Olympic champion Gu Ailing Eileen became popular and gained a lot of attention in the Chinese and foreign media. With the rise of popularity and influenced by online public opinion, Gu Ailing Eileen's nationality and excellent academic performance have triggered scrambling media reports, which has become a typical case of the dilemma of public crisis communication and public discussion in China.
