Abstract

Chitosan, a biodegradable natural polysaccharide derived from Cunninghamella elegans was isolated, characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and MALDI TOF. The degree of deacetylation(DAC) was found to be 85%. Chitosan nanoparticles were prepared by cross-linking chitosan with sodium tripolyphosphate (sTPP), The nanoparticles were again characterized by FTIR and FESEM.
