Abstract

In respect of the recently presented Commission documents: a. the (updated) proposal for the creation of an Entry/Exit system (EES) b. the Communication on Stronger and Smarter Information Systems for Borders and Security; c. the Report on the availability and readiness of technology to identify a person on the basis of fingerprints held in the second generation Schengen Information System (SIS II); d. the Communication on the European Agenda on Security to fight against terrorism; and e. the proposal to amend the current Eurodac Regulation, the Article 29 Working Party (WP29) considers that the proposals of the Commission will have an impact on the right to private life and the right to the protection of personal data, as established by Article 7 and 8 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (hereinafter: the Charter) and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (hereinafter: the Convention).
