Abstract

The Victoria River in the northwest of the Northern Territory of Australia has Aborigines history for 40, 000 years but owing to harsh climate, remote and difficult to access district, lack of functioning Aborigines reserves, mission stations or town, very little ethnographic research has been carried out. Some fascinating information about the Aborigines existing in the records of two exploring expeditions to Victoria River country is presented.
