AFERRARSE O SOLTAR PRIVILEGIOS DE GÉNERO: SOBRE MASCULINIDADES HEGEMÓNICAS Y DISIDENTES

Abstract

Las investigaciones e intervenciones dirigidas a prevenir la violencia de género y a promover la igualdad han contemplado, de manera predominante, acciones y medidas que tienen como destinatarias a las mujeres. Sin embargo, esta problemática debería abordarse de modo relacional. Si solo trabajamos con una de las partes implicadas, habitualmente las mujeres, dejamos fuera al actor principal del conflicto: el varón. Por eso, en el presente artículo, nos proponemos desarrollar los aspectos más relevantes que constituyen a las masculinidades hegemónicas y a las “nuevas masculinidades”, tanto desde un abordaje teórico como empírico, a partir de autores claves y entrevistas realizadas a varones durante 2015. El objetivo es involucrar no solo a las mujeres sino también a los varones en labores de problematización de su propia posición de privilegio y de prevención de la violencia de género, de manera que contribuyan a la socialización de las nuevas generaciones en valores democráticos de ejercicio del poder y en relaciones igualitarias.

Research and interventions aimed at preventing gender violence and promoting equality, have seen, actions and measures that are designed to predominantly target women. However, gender issues should be addressed in a relational mode. If you only work with one of the involved parties, usually women, we are leaving out the main actor in the conflict: the man. Therefore, in this article, we intend to develop the most relevant aspects that constitute hegemonic masculinities and the “new masculinities”, both from a theoretical and empirical approach, from key authors and interviews with men in 2015. The goal is to involve not only women but also men in process of understanding their roles in the prevention of gender violence, and to involve them in the socialization of new generations with democratic values of power that practice egalitarian gender relations.
