Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explore the transformations caused by the experience of obstetric violence in the perception women have of themselves, in other words, their self-image, their bodies and their sexuality. Through the life stories of four narrator-collaborators from the metropolitan regions and Valparaiso (Chile), I have been able to learn how negative aspects coexist with other positive ones in their transformations, from an initial stage of intense questioning and blaming, through depressive states and the suspension of sexuality for long periods. Elaborating the experience involved the painstaking reappropriation of the body through self-knowledge, together with the emergence of an ethical-critical awareness that encouraged them to share their experience with other women.
