Orígens i influències culturals de la figura de la Dona d’aigua

Abstract

Resum: Les dones d’aigua són figures de la mitologia catalana que existeixen des dels inicis dels temps i que han anat evolucionant i modificant-se amb el pas dels segles fins a convertir-se en els personatges que avui coneixem. Presenten una gran multiplicitat de formes, noms i funcions als diferents mites que protagonitzen, sempre en relació a les necessitats locals de cada petita societat. En aquest article es pretén dur a terme un estudi sobre els seus orígens i les influències culturals que han rebut en els diferents períodes de la història, des de les mitologies antigues fins a les modernes per tal d’observar les similituds i diferències que hi ha d’una cultura a l’altra i entendre el rol que ocupen en la configuració d’una identitat cultural.Paraules clau: Mitologia, dona d’aigua, català, fada, identitat.Abstract: The dones d’aigua (water women) are figures of Catalan mythology that have existed since the dawn of time and have evolved and changed over the centuries to become the characters we know today. They present a great multiplicity of forms, names and functions to the different roles they play, always in relation to the local needs of each small society. In this article I intend to carry out a study on their origins and the cultural influences they have received in the different periods of history, from the ancient mythologies to the modern ones, in order to observe the similarities and differences from one culture to another and to understand the role they play in the configuration of a cultural identity.
