Abstract

This work relates to a cogeneration process of electrical energy and fresh water using respectively a Solar Tower and a humidification-dehumidification desalination system. The process consists in recovering heat from the return air of the solar tower and its use to supply by hot air a humidifier - dehumidification distiller. This return air with a temperature of nearly 300 ° C has a very low relative humidity, thus, it has a very important ability to moisten. Its use, in a humidification-dehumidification distiller, produces the fresh water necessary for the operation of the solar tower plant using the wet cooling cycle, in an arid or semi-arid region where fresh water is scarce and where brackish or sea water may be abundant.
