Abstract

For significant and lasting contributions to research on mobile computing and communications and wireless networking, Dr. Andrea Goldsmith is the recipient of the 2022 SIGMOBILE Outstanding Contributions Award. Dr. Goldsmith is a world-class scholar and entrepreneur in the field of wireless communications. Her work, beginning in the 1990s, on the capacity of fading communication channels, and on the use of adaptive modulation schemes to achieve this capacity, has had considerable influence on the thinking of the wireless networking community as the need for highercapacity wireless systems has exploded over the intervening years.
