Translation and/as Rewriting

Abstract

Rewriting is not permitted in traditional translation theory. But it frequently occurs in real life translations and is sometimes of great necessity to attain the goal of communication. The current paper argues that the means of rewriting can be used when there is fallacy in the source text,when ideological consideration is predominated,and when consideration to the target text reader's comprehensibility, to the difference between the English and Chinese and to the poetics is given.
