Abstract
Rapid qualitative identification of the sulphonamides present in pharmaceutical preparations is conveniently carried out using mass spectrometry. Direct introduction of a small quantity of the powdered tablet into the mass spectrometer results in the production of characteristic ions even in preparations containing a mixture of therapeutically active constituents and without prior separation of the various constituents.
