Thirty male Wister albino rats were divided randomly into five groups, six rats in each. Group I (negative control), group II (GA) received 6% GA in drinking water, group III (Cisplatin) injected by CP (4.5 mg/kg b.w., i.p.) for two consecutive days, group IV (preventive) pretreated with GA 6% in drinking water daily for 4 weeks before Cisplatin injection and group V (treatment) co-treated by GA with Cisplatin injection (doses as mentioned before). Group III (Cisplatin) showed nephrotoxicity that was manifested by a significant increase in levels of serum Creatinine, urea, and potassium with elevation in kidney MDA level and a decrease in kidney GSH level. In addition, histopathological examination showed severe degeneration and necrosis in kidney tubules.
