Scientific novelty. The role recognition of film and video surveillance as a basic element in the education and training of cinematographers; determination of characteristic features and fundamental differences of work on screen observations in comparison with work on other types of the screen works. Conclusions. The article analyzes the importance of video surveillance for the creative imagination development of students-directors. The importance of observations has been proved for the work of directors working in all types of cinematography from documentaries to feature films and animation. Abstract
