Abstract

For crystalline material with strong terahertz (THz) absorbance, the characterization with terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is typically performed on the mixture pellet where the analyte of interest is embedded within an inert polymer matrix. The polymer background significantly affects the phase delay of the propagating THz signal inside the sample, which makes the polymer matrix contribute to the overall dielectric response of the mixture sample to the probing THz waves. In this study, an analytical model was proposed to extract the target analyte’s intrinsic dielectric constants from the experimental dielectric spectra of the diluted mixture.
