Abstract
Climatologically, the Grazalema Mountain is one of the most interesting areas of the Iberian Peninsula. However, it has not been studied in detail. Thus, a detailed pluviometric analysis is presented by addressing the origin of its high rainfall records.
The results obtained show that the high rainfall levels on average, annually recorded in Grazalema, (more numerous than the ones recorded on the stations located at the windward slopes) are caused by a leeward depression effect (with reinforcement of Venturi effect) produced by the Corredor del Boyar. In addition, it is evidenced that with the creation of new georeferenced extrapolated points with rainfall values, it is possible to obtain a more accurate rainfall cartographic than with other methods, due to the fact that these maps are better suited to the relief.
Pirineos. A Journal on Mountain Ecology publishes papers dealing with the dynamics of mountain ecosystems, that is, with processes and relationships established between living beings and their environment, in the highest regions on earth. Therefore it tries to explain the global functioning of mountainous areas and the spatial organization of processes and resources, with an integrated perspective in which man performs an important role.
