The content analysis and multimedia functionality of several interactive online portals has been used. The scientific novelty of the study is that the main features of the creation and distribution of news media content on the Internet are comprehensively analyzed taking into account the key trends in the development of new audiovisual media and on the basis of the comparative characteristics of professional TV journalistic and user content in online publications; An analysis of news multimedia content and interactive functionality of sites of a number of leading online media was carried out. Conclusions. The media industry is developing dynamically under the influence of the wide use of multimedia technologies for creating and distributing news content, as well as the interactive communication of media and media users via the Internet and other network channels. In the context of virtualization and multilevel globalization of the media system, the emergence of the infrastructure of new media that changed the global information and communication landscape.
