Based on the diffusion of water molecules in the white matter nerve fiber bundle, and the connection to the “pain matrix”. Tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) can demonstrate whether or not there is a difference in the water diffusion characteristics of fiber bundles in migraine patients compared with healthy volunteers. Abstract

White matter microstructure imaging has long been studied and analyzed with tensor diffusion pulse sequences.
