Comorbidités et arthrose

Abstract

The prevalence of comorbidities is high in osteoarthritis with the possible association of several of them for the same patient. The main chronic conditions found in osteoarthritic patients include high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases (coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke/transient ischemic attack, peripheral artery disease, and cardio-vascular diseases (CVD)-related hospitalization or mortality), peptic ulcer, type II diabetes, obesity. Metabolic syndrome is more common. Comorbidities have aggravating consequences for osteoarthritis. They will be able to change the perception of pain or influence the course of the disease. This link seems to vary according to different locations of osteoarthritis. Some of these comorbidities have an impact on the management of which they are a limiting factor.
