Abstract

Liu De-hai,a master of PiPa,created five pipa solos for his "Life" series: "Old Child","Swan","Spring Silkworms","Childhood" and "Terracotta Warrior".The music form and structure,development of music thinking,music changes,technique of expression and performing skills have all reached a high level,embodying Liu's excellent composition technique and unique composition idea.The opening theme "Old Child" of the five is quite representative.It describes an image of an old urchin,active,interesting,childish and full of vicissitudes.It expresses the composer's pursuit of childishness,and active and optimistic outlook of life.
