Abstract
Under the background of aging, the research on the adaptation of community space for the elderly has attracted people's attention. This study selects Jiangbin Xincun in Zhenjiang City with serious aging phenomenon as the sample object, takes the needs of the elderly vulnerable groups as the guidance for designing the corresponding questionnaire to collect the subjective evaluation data of the elderly, uses SD method to describe the elderly residents' perception of outdoor space adaptation, and then uses statistical analysis method to conduct quantitative research on the perception data to obtain more accurate and objective evaluation results. According to the final result, it has found that there are three major issues, namely, the shortage of seats and types of sites in activity space, unreasonable traffic road system and the lack of barrier-free facilities. Finally, according to the evaluation results, this study summarizes the shortcomings of the built environment, and puts forward the design strategies for the adaptation of the elderly, such as creating a multi-level and compound type activity space, build a friendly environment suitable for the elderly to walk and optimize the barrier-free environment of public space in residential areas, so as to promote the sustainable development of the old community in the new era.
