Benign cystic teratoma of the tongue a rare entity—Case report

Abstract

Teratoma is a neoplasm composed of tissue from all three germinal layers. Benign cystic teratoma is extensively researched and documented in literature. It displays a wide spectrum of presentations. Only 6.9% of teratomas occur in the head and neck region. Teratoma of tongue is a rare tumor of the oral cavity with only 21 cases reported in the literature. We report a rare case of benign cystic teratoma of tongue in a 10-year-old female, who presented as macroglossia and was successfully treated with surgery.
