Stories of how the practice came to be are also an account of what the practice now is, a way of articulating aspirations for what if might become. The story of friendship and making has a simplicity that continues to speak to these architects: that design and making are linked elements of a process that is interesting and creative because it is unpredictable, experimental, and sometimes leads to failure.
