This systematic review sought to identify risk and protective factors for suicidality and non-suicidal self-injury. Method: Three databases were searched and 52 articles selected. Risk and protective factors were categorized into discrimination, social support, comorbidities, medical transition status, and community and social policy factors. Result: Despite nearly all studies providing only cross-sectional or qualitative data, significant correlations were found between the categories of risk and protective factors and their respective outcomes.
