Management of panfacial fracture using "top to bottom" approach

Abstract

Pan facial fractures can be described as the fracture involving upper, middle, and the lower third of the face. One among the main principles in pan facial fracture repair is to accurately restore the facial buttresses in all three dimensions. However, the precise order during which the fractures are repaired has been much debated. The main aim of treating this kind of fractures is to restore the proper form and function. Here in this case report, we treated a patient of pan facial fracture secondary to road traffic accident using “top to bottom approach” and we conclude that this approach provides a proper restoration of the form and function by providing a harmony in occlusal, vertical and horizontal relationship of the facial structures.
