The aims of the study were (1) to determine students' ability to write poetry before and after using the field trip learning method, (2) to determine the effect of the field trip learning method on students' ability to write poetry. Sampling technique with random sampling. The method used was an experiment with a one group pretest-posttest design. The results of the research before using the field trip method obtained an average of 61.47. The results after using the field trip method obtained an average of 81.61. The results of the pretest-posttest normality test prove that the distribution is normal, as well as the homogeneity test which proves that the sample comes from a homogeneous population. Once it was known that it was 9.52, it was then consulted with the t table with a significance level of α = 0.05 with df = N-1, df = 34-1 = 33 at a significant level of α = 5%, then ttable = 2.03. Thus it can be concluded that tcount > ttable, namely 9.52 > 2.03. So that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
